A commercial job is not a large residential job. The runs are longer than any single slab, the surfaces take far more traffic and abuse than anything in a house, and the date is usually fixed by an opening rather than by the trades. That changes how the work is planned: a thirty foot counter is laid out as a set of pieces whose joints land where nobody will notice them, then cut, carried and set as a sequence.
We have done church auditoriums and childrens wings, resort bars and demonstration kitchens, open plan offices with coffee bars and clad structural columns. Columns are the detail worth asking about, because a square column has four faces and four corners and the eye goes straight to any one where the pattern stops. Ours are mitred so the material appears to run straight through the corner.
